“Given this survey was conducted at a time when the recession was biting hard, the overall picture on skills is very promising. It is clear that employers recognise the value of a skilled workforce, and have maintained their commitment to training despite pressure on budgets.
"It remains important that the government matches this commitment from industry by ensuring there is stability in the funding of valuable training programmes such as apprenticeships.
“There is still a lot of work to do in removing the barriers and complexity which prevent many businesses from accessing the right training support, and this needs to be prioritised if we are to maximise the skills we need for the recovery.”
