We were broadly supportive of DEFRA’s aims to create a fairer, more effective and more proportionate enforcement regime. The main body of our response comments upon DEFRA’s proposals to introduce six new civil powers for environmental regulatory authorities.
We offer EEF’s broad support assuming that the assurances that have been provided, and which were reiterated in direct meetings with DEFRA and Environment Agency, are delivered during implementation. However, we do outline a number of areas which require further consideration/action and remain a concern to manufacturers.
