EEF comment on Higher Apprenticeship Funding

Commenting on today’s announcement on Higher Apprenticeship Funding, EEF Head of Employment Affairs, Tim Thomas, said:

We welcome the Government’s efforts to increase the number of Higher Apprenticeships. The government’s commitment to Higher Apprenticeships recognises that the old distinction between academic and vocational skills belongs to the last century and that apprenticeships will play a growing role in delivering the skills we need to compete in world markets.

Higher Apprenticeships provide a great route to getting young people into high skilled jobs in manufacturing but for this to work the government must ensure that they are receiving the right careers advice that demonstrates that apprenticeships can lead to highly successful careers in industry.
