Commenting on today’s IoP data, Andrew Johnson, Senior Economist at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation said:
"July’s production figures show a welcome bounce-back in manufacturing output, suggesting that the weakness seen in June as a result of the Jubilee celebrations has now been unwound. Taking this into account, however, the data points to a fairly flat picture for underlying growth rates. We continue to see sectoral divergence, with transport equipment remaining a significant area of strength for UK manufacturing."
