The NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety is a nationally recognised qualification. It is designed to provide a sound breadth of underpinning knowledge that enables people to more effectively discharge their duties or functions with respect to health and safety in construction activities.

How is the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety course structured?

  • Unit NGC1 - Management of health and safety
  • Unit NCC1 - Management of construction hazards
  • Unit NCC2 - Construction health and safety - practical application

Candidates who have obtained the NEBOSH National General Certificate, passed unit NGC1 of the NEBOSH National General Certificate or passed the NEBOSH National Diploma Paper A1 within the last five years will only have to take and pass units NCC1 AND NCC2. Candidates must successfully complete all three units to achieve the overall qualification.

How is the NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety course assessed?

Each candidate will be required to carry out a practical assessment in the workplace (NCC2) and to sit two exams of two hours each (NGC1 and NCC1) on completion of the course. Those who have already passed NGC1 as part of the NEBOSH National General Certificate will not be required to resit this exam.

Progression routes

Following successful completion of the course, delegates will be eligible for the NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health and the EEF / Oxford Brookes Diploma in Health and Safety Management.
