employment relations and employee relations law

Employment relations is concerned with maintaining the employer-employee relationship that contributes to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale. EEF can provide advice and assistance on topics ranging from improving poor performance, managing sickness absence and handling disciplinary and grievances.

Managing work and employee relations at both UK and European level has assumed greater significance in recent years with the introduction of employee relations law with far-reaching consequences. We campaign for simpler and better regulation which achieves a balance between the need to protect employees from the most unscrupulous employers but provides flexible working, an important contributor to manufacturing competitiveness.

Aside from the implementation of the employment relations act, key issues include new legislation on age discrimination, work and families and policies to promote conciliation as well as the solving of disputes in the workplace without the need to resolve through tribunal. Given the increasing amount of legislation emanating from Brussels, we play a key role in discussions with the European Commission and Parliament.
