Pay and inflation update - January 2008

EEF's monthly pay and inflation update provides the latest data on pay settlements across manufacturing.

Key points from the latest Pay Bulletin and our inflation pages include:

  • The average pay settlement was unchanged at 3.2% in the three months to December.
  • Almost a fifth of settlements agreed above 3.5%.
  • Proportion of pay freezes rises to 4.3%, but below the average for 2007.
  • CPI holds steady at 2.1% but RPI eases to 4.0% on the back of an easing in mortgage interest payments.
