employment policy

Employment law at both UK and European level has assumed greater significance in recent years with the introduction of new regulation with far-reaching consequences for employment procedure and policy. We campaign for simpler and better employment policy and regulation which achieves a balance between the need to protect employees from the most unscrupulous employers but provides flexible working, an important contributor to manufacturing competitiveness.

Key issues in UK employment policy include new legislation on Age Discrimination, Work and Families and policies to promote conciliation as well as the solving of disputes in the workplace without the need to resolve through tribunal. Given the increasing amount of legislation emanating from Brussels, we play a key role in discussions with the European Commission and Parliament.
