The MIS provides a reference point for companies interested in improving their use of engineering materials and processing methods. The MIS team is staffed by experienced materials technologists who work closely with companies to solve their materials related problems. This can involve on-site visits, working within a company project team and providing information on relevant contacts within local businesses and universities. As an aid to this service, MIS produces a wide range of information sheets designed to give a beginner's guide to the different engineering materials and processes available. Once engaged in a project, MIS are committed to ensuring the correct selection of materials and processes to help companies to manufacture competitive and profitable products. MIS operates through a number of regional advisors who are thoroughly connected to the local business and academic communities, allowing these advisors to find regional solutions to company problems.
The service is ostensibly for members of the Institute, but a certain amount of help is extended to non-members for free. Above a certain amount, charges will be applied and membership encouraged. |
