The Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering is intended to provide the basis for a range of potential career paths in engineering. It is not intended to be seen as a programme which limits aspirations to the achievement of an NVQ3, Key Skills and a Technical Certificate but as a firm foundation for an engineering career.
It is intended to be sufficiently flexible to be suitable for use by employers in any sector of engineering and to meet the needs of entrants from diverse backgrounds. It has been designed to accommodate any engineering NVQ at level 3 or 4.
The enclosed documents are intended to provide you with the relevant information required to fulfil the contractual elements of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering, and they reflect the position about arrangements for such apprenticeships as at August 2005. The documents are:
1) The Introduction to the Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering which gives you general background information.
2) Guidance notes on the Model Apprenticeship Agreement which should be carefully considered along with the Agreement.
3) The Model Apprenticeship Agreement including its Annex A.
4) Guidance Notes on the Numbered Asterisks in the Model Apprenticeship Agreement.
