Pay and inflation update - October 2007

EEF's monthly pay and inflation update provides our members with the latest data on pay settlements across manufacturing.

Key points from the latest Pay Bulletin and our inflation pages include:

  • The average pay settlement was steady at 3.2% in the three months to September. 
  • The proportion of pay freezes edged up to 3%. 
  • Pay deals agreed at more than 3.5% accounted for a quarter of settlements in the past three months.
  • CPI inflation was unchanged at 1.8%, but RPI eased to 3.9% in September.
  • All measures of inflation are forecast to pick up in the next few months, but should ease back throughout 2008.
