According to official statistics, whole economy average earnings growth weakened in the three months to June. Including bonuses, earnings growth slowed to 3.4% from 3.8% in the three months to May. Excluding bonuses, the slowdown was less pronounced with growth slowing to 3.7% from 3.8% over the same period. A considerable slowdown was reported in manufacturing as pay growth fell to 2.8% from 3.6% in May. Stripping out bonuses, earnings growth in manufacturing slowed to 2.8%, from 3.1%.
