Winning independent industry recognition at a regional and national level from your peers will make your whole team proud, position you as an industry leader to potential clients and get you ahead of the game. And like our previous winners you’ll feel the benefits for years to come.
But you’re just not sure how best to tell your story
The good news is that with the deadline for entries on the 17th July time is on your side. Over the years the judges and I have seen hundreds of entries. I have compiled the inside scoop below to give you some insight into what makes an award winning entry:
Tell a compelling story
Don’t just explain the basics of a particular program or initiative – tell the judges why the program was developed and how positive results were realised (with tangible metrics and examples whenever possible). Let your passion loose to bring the story to life, and don’t be afraid to brag a bit – it is a competition after all.
Enter more than one category
Advanced Insulation - National winner of the Business Growth Award, the Export Award and Winner of Winner Awards 2016
You may find your story is applicable in more than one award category. For instance, if you have changed the way your production line works to make it more efficient, this may have resulted in growth. Then submit in the Business Growth and the Innovation categories to double the odds of winning. You might as well – entering is free!
Complete the forms when you want
Simply register on our online portal and easily complete the forms at your leisure. It won’t take long – there’s a word limit for each section to keep you on track.
Don’t forget apprentices
Did you know there are awards for individual apprentices as well as your business initiatives? You can enter up to six apprentices per category, per company, per site for each award. Read our top tips for apprentices for more advice.
Reuse and recycle
Entered the Future Manufacturing Awards in a past year, but didn’t win? Try again. Tell the judges what you’ve been up to since that entry was written, and see if this is the year you come home a winner. Or have you entered another Awards programme? If so, adapt your entry and enter ours.
Back it up, visually
A picture – or graph – can tell a thousand words. You’re allowed up to five attachments, such as graphs, photos and tables, to accompany your entry. Just be sure you refer to these in your entry form so judges know how to interpret them in the context of your story.
The bottom line is: take the plunge. Many of our past winners were unsure if they should enter, but were so glad they did when they took home an award. We know the manufacturing industry has amazing stories to tell, and we look forward to hearing about and celebrating them. If you’re unsure which category to enter or would like a sound board for your ideas call our Awards team. EEF staff aren’t involved in the judging process, are completely impartial and are here to support you - call us on 020 765 1540 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to get your entry underway.
