EEF responds to Low Pay Commission’s recommendations for national minimum wage rates for 2015/16.
Commenting on the Low Pay Commission’s recommendations for national minimum wage rates for 2015/16, Lee Hopley, Chief Economist at EEF said:
"The Low Pay Commission has carefully balanced protecting the lowest paid whilst not impacting on jobs and growth in its recommendations for both the adult rate and youth development rate.
“From industry's perspective the Commission could have gone further on apprentice rates increase to boost pay and simplify the system, but we also recognise that the impacts may have been more finely balanced in other parts of the economy - the clear benefit of having this independent arbiter on pay.”
