EEF comments on the Public Accounts Committee report on lessons from major rail infrastructure programmes
Responding to today's report, Chris Richards, Senior Business Environment Policy Adviser, said:
"Today's report from the Public Accounts Committee highlights the chaotic nature in which we identify our infrastructure requirements in the UK and, importantly, it recommends the critical need for a change in approach. This report adds to the growing calls for more long-term thinking on our infrastructure needs.
“EEF has outlined the need for that change in approach through a UK Infrastructure Authority, which would identify in aggregate all of the UK's long term infrastructure challenges in every sector, enabling us to better debate the pros and cons of solutions to each. Such an approach would minimise the risk of the infrastructure supply chain not being geared up to deliver these major projects, ensuring better value for money in delivery."
