Commenting on the result of the Labour leadership election, Terry Scuoler, Chief Executive of EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, said:
“I would like to congratulate the new leader of the Opposition on his election, and on conducting a highly successful leadership campaign. He said during the campaign that his door is always open to business. I’ll be knocking on it shortly. I hope he will also, as leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition, work closely with business and industry to support the efforts we are making to ensure Britain is a place where business – especially manufacturing – can grow and thrive.
“The success of British industry is closely linked to a successful working relationship with many levels of Government, and we look forward to hearing the Labour leader’s views on important issues such as the industrial and energy strategy, and decisions which will be considered as part of the forthcoming Spending Review and Autumn Statement.
“I also look forward to engaging with Mr Corbyn on a wide range of pressing issues including Britain’s future in the EU, innovation, training and apprenticeships and support for our exporters.”
