Commenting on the announcement of the Energy Cost Review, chaired by Dieter Helm, Roz Bulleid, Head of Climate & Environment Policy at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, said:
“This is a welcome recognition by government of industry’s concerns over increasingly uncompetitive energy prices and the need to act. Including an industrial voice on the steering panel for the review is further sign of its good intentions.
“Dieter Helm is an acknowledged expert in this area and has an excellent understanding of the interplay between decarbonisation and competitiveness, and how it affects manufacturers. The Review should be a key role in achieving an outcome which government, suppliers and consumers can all accept and use as a baseline for future action.”
