Commenting on the latest PMI data, Francesco Arcangeli, Economist at EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, said:
“Manufacturing PMI are trending down almost everywhere around Europe and UK is not an exception. While the latest figures are a sign of relief after the fall of last month, they remain particularly subdued.
“Looking forward prospects for Industry will continue to suffer from uncertainty looming ahead of us domestically, together with a European economy already showing signs of slowdown. This provides a backdrop for UK companies of a faltering export picture with demand mostly reliant on the domestic market and client stockpiling.”
