Tailored apprenticeship programme

We use our understanding of the manufacturing sector to help you develop a tailored apprenticeship programme to equip your business for the future.

We’ll work with you to evaluate your business and help identify skills gaps, then guide and advise you on the specific skills and qualifications an apprentice will need to acquire in order to meet your business’s needs.

We’ll then work closely with you across the recruitment, training and ongoing support to ensure your apprenticeship programme is delivering the specific skills you want.

Recruitment support and vacancy database

One of the biggest costs and challenges to a business’ apprenticeship program is finding and recruiting the best talent to fit their culture and skills needs. EEF helps ease this burden by working directly with businesses to:

  • ensure your job description and salary are suitable to attract the right talent
  • offer support by advertising your vacancies on our apprentice vacancy database, used by apprentices and career advisers to find apprentice positions to apply for, and through the National Apprentice Vacancy Matching Service (NAVMS), an online resource used in schools and careers offices across the UK. This system is not available to companies but as an approved training provider, we can post the vacancy on your behalf
  • collect and screen CVs, conduct selection testing and first-round interviews to determine an initial shortlist

Training

With decades of experience working with manufacturers of all types and sizes, EEF has an unparalleled understanding of what these companies and their employees need to succeed in the modern economy.

From our Technology Training Centre in the West Midlands, we work directly with manufacturers throughout the UK to craft apprentice training programs that mix classroom learning with on-the-job skills.

Our programmes have a high standard of quality training endorsed and accredited by key industry and national awarding bodies including City & Guilds, EAL, Ofsted and CIEH.

We administer examinations and testing, including for key qualifications including Btec and NVQs.

We provide training courses for employees of all types and levels, in everything from health and safety to productivity, so your apprentice training (and training for the rest of your workforce) can continue throughout their career.

We work with manufacturers across the UK with flexible training solutions that are tailored to the needs of each business that ensure quality, value and consistency across the apprenticeship programme.

West Midlands based companies

For companies based in the West Midlands, our purpose-built Technology Training Center delivers all off-the job training for your apprentices. Our tutors, many of whom are past apprentices themselves, are highly experienced and know just how to get the best out of the young people they teach.

Companies based outside of the West Midlands

For companies based outside of the Midlands area, there are two options for the off-the-job training.

1. We offer a residential programme where your apprentices stay at a selected hotel near to the training centre and complete their training at our Technology Training Centre. This is a great way to achieve consistency, particularly when an employer has multiple sites across various locations.

2. We also offer a managed service where we work with one of our carefully selected partners in your local area to deliver high quality apprenticeship training, whilst we manage the apprenticeship programme.

Ongoing mentorship and funding support

EEF continues to work with our employers after recruitment and training. Every apprentice and employer is assigned a monitoring officer to ensure the apprenticeship programme runs effectively and to identify and resolve any issues that may arise.

If an employer is eligible for the various government grants and funding for apprenticeship programmes, we help them identify these options and successfully apply for funding.
