EEF’s Technology Training Centre is growing!
As indicated in EEF’s recently released Skills Report 2016, UK manufacturers are increasingly look to bolster the technical skills of their workforce through training existing staff and recruiting apprentices. So it’s not surprising that EEF has seen a surge in interest in demand for the centre’s well-recognised and accredited training for engineers and apprentices.
In fact, the new site (near the existing facility in Birmingham) will allow the centre to train 400 young people from 80 employers annually. The £5 million expansion will bring the total investment in the state-of-the-art facility to over £11 million since it opened in 2014.
The new facility will house a wide range of areas devoted to developing technological skills, including robotics, electronics and rapid prototyping. It will boast an industry standard CAD (computer aided design) suite, an automated factory and an industry standard tool room. The new centre will also host EEF’s soon-to-be-launched Leadership Institute and Manufacturing Academy, which will play a key role in ensuring UK manufacturing stays at the forefront of Industry 4.0 (the 4th industrial revolution).
Those interested in touring the current facility can take a virtual tour of the facility and sign up for the free Open Day on 30 April, which lets visitors speak with trainers and get a behind-the-scenes tour of the facilities.
In order to provide the same high quality of training and coaching as the current training centre provides, EEF is recruiting 32 new positions in teaching, training, administration and office support.
