Curtis-Crook-quote

What is a typical day like for you?

My typical day will consist of following my work colleagues around the factory, watching step by step what they do in breakdown situations and the way they go about overcoming the problem at hand. This improves my knowledge on the plant and helps me to understand how to fix and overcome breakdown problems.

What are the top three benefits of being an apprentice?

1. Getting paid and learning at the same time.

2. Getting time off work for college.

3. Once you have achieved your qualifications, you’ll have the work experience to go with them.

What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in engineering?

All I could say to you as advice would be to look for a company that has a good background and reputation. Also the more important point is to look for a job that you’ll see yourself enjoying because nothing is worse than getting up for work and going to a job you cannot stand. The final point I’m going to say would be is to find out the sort of support you will receive through your college work also the support you’ll receive at work, make sure they have a structure for you to follow and that you are not just going to work and learning nothing.
