Using Apprenticeship Levy funds for up-skilling

The Apprenticeship Levy is one of the most significant changes to the training and development of engineers and manufacturing talent in recent memory. Many companies are understandably concerned about getting the most out of their Levy funds. In addition to traditional engineering apprenticeships, there are a variety of ways to use Levy funds for training. 

The National Physical Laboratory (NPL) curriculum to support the Metrology Technician Level 3 Standard is now available, enabling industry to secure world-class measurement skills to unlock productivity and efficiency gains. EEF has become the first training provider to license and roll it out.

The curriculum is the first ever apprenticeship measurement standard to be approved by government, and has been developed to bridge the skills gap for measurement expertise in the UK – to help apprentices gain a more in-depth understanding of measurement and its applications. This is in high demand, with 75% of managers in industry stating, in an NPL survey, that they would use an apprenticeship in measurement to recruit, train and develop their employees.
