The Automated Technology Group is a leading global supplier of control and power solutions for industrial automation. Now part of Wood Group Mustang’s Automation and Control business unit, the company delivers complex projects with a proven blend of creativity, confidence and control.

Headquartered in Silsoe, Bedfordshire, The Automated Technology Group is a fast-growing, dynamic organisation with multiple sites across the UK. Operating within all major industry sectors, its solutions drive the production lines and supply chains of many leading companies.

Believing that technical skills are vital to the future success of British manufacturing, The Automated Technology Group is dedicated to providing meaningful training and development for young people through its own apprenticeship programme called “The Academy”.

Accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology, The Academy recruits new apprentices every year allowing young people to achieve nationally recognised qualifications and develop the skills required for a successful career in engineering.

Throughout the programme, apprentices gain industry-specific knowledge across various company departments while receiving a salary from day one, putting them in an excellent position to continue their career within the company on completion of their chosen pathway.

All apprentices are encouraged and supported to achieve his or her full potential. With their progress reviewed regularly, apprentices have an opportunity to acquire:

  • Practical competence through a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)

  • Technical knowledge through attending a college course

  • Key workplace skills such as ICT, literacy, numeracy, problem-solving ability and teamwork

  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)

  • An understanding of the relevant health and safety requirements and Employment Responsibilities and Rights (ERR)
