Following my recent blog from South Africa I can confirm that ISO14004, the guidance document to implementing, maintaining and improving an Environmental Management System (EMS) including ISO14001 will become a Draft International Standard (DIS) in February / March 2015. Although this will be subject to a yes vote from the relevant ISO committee, the good work undertaken in South Africa makes this positive outcome the most likely.
Once the DIS is available, interested parties will have 3 months to comment prior to the Final International Standard being published alongside ISO14001:2015 in Autumn 2015.
In order for the UK to provide comprehensive feedback on the DIS, I am looking to form a UK working group to use and test the standard. In addition to helping ensure that ISO14004 is as relevant and useful as possible this will be a great opportunity to become familiar with the new standards. If you are interested in being involved, most likely from the start of next year, then please do contact me email@example.com.
Based on the current ISO14004, we are running a one day training course throughout the UK, Transitioning ISO14001:2015 in November, December and January, to help you get ready. Furthermore for those wishing to see how they will be affected by the changes we have developed an online gap assessment tool to identify the areas of your business that you may need to focus on.
You can also subscribe to our updates on 14001:2015 to keep abreast of developments and for guidance, tips and advice on transitioning to 14001:2015.
