As we move into the season of good will, 1 December 2014 sees the implementation of the final Shared Parental Leave Regulations, clearing the way for eligible parents to start exercising the new statutory right to take shared parental leave (‘SPL’) with effect from April 2015.
The Shared Parental Leave Regulations 2014 set out the qualification requirements for SPL. In addition the Maternity and Adoption Leave (Curtailment of Statutory Rights to Leave) Regulations 2014 also come into force today allowing eligible women to curtail their right to statutory maternity leave in order to allow themselves and/or an eligible partner to take SPL and receive shared parental pay.
For further details on the operation of SPL and pay visit our website.
Employers requiring further assistance in getting to grips with the new statutory regime, or who are in the process of implementing SPL policies and procedures and want to assess the implications of SPL for workforce management, should attend one of EEF’s national seminars - ‘Who’s holding the baby? The new right to shared parental leave'. These seminars will be running at various locations in January 2015. For more information or to book a place click here.
