Navigating Brexit: the migration minefield - Yorkshire and Humber

Round Table Dinner

Join us for a dinner event delving into emerging concerns about the skills gap and the upcoming migration challenge post Brexit. This regional event will bring together leaders from across UK manufacturing and HR to network on shared challenges as well as hear from experts who will provide the best advice on what actions they should take now.

EEF, in partnership with Squire Patton Boggs, have recently produced a report – Navigating Brexit: The Migration Minefield. The report, based on a survey of manufacturers showed some concerning trends in the number of EU citizen leaving UK manufacturing companies and a slump in job applications from EU citizens. This is against the backdrop of an already yawning skills gap in the sector.

This event will also explore what the UK Government needs to do next to support companies to prepare for the post-Brexit world – including producing a suite of resources and tools to support EU citizens and their families applying for settled status as well as setting out a light touch migration policy for those EU citizens coming to the UK after December 2020. We will discuss the areas of HR support that companies have said they need and what is already out there to help employers prepare and navigate through the migration minefield.
