After the hype last week surrounding the Budget, this week manufacturing gets its main event – the release of the Industrial Strategy White paper. And if that wasn’t enough, on Friday we also get a look at how manufacturing performed in November, when Markit/Cips release the manufacturing PMI.

Industrial Strategy White Paper

It’s been a long time coming, but today, 10 months on from when the green paper was published, the government will release its Industrial Strategy White Paper. We’ve been working hard in the intervening months, speaking to manufacturers about what they liked and didn’t like in the green paper, and highlighting our concerns in our policy digest which was released over the summer. Manufacturing PMI

On Friday, the manufacturing PMI for November will be released. The indicator has been rooted in positive territory for over a year now, with October’s reading rising to 56.3. Given the strength in the recent official data, and what we are hearing on the ground from manufacturers, we have no reason to believe this trend will change, and are expecting another strong reading this month.
