EEF sets out how the new Mayor can boost manufacturing in the Tees Valley in this manifesto.

EEF has outlined the importance of the election to manufacturers – the deal that has been agreed with the government will provide much needed investment in Tees Valley infrastructure and transport assets and give the region a powerful and unified voice. The election of a mayor will also help to stabilise decision making over the long-term and ensure decisions have a strong regional mandate.

The new Mayor will have to take advantage of the Tees Valley’s rich industrial heritage and strong manufacturing foundations to meet the region’s economic aspirations and improve the visibility of manufacturing. A priority for the Mayor will be to use their new powers to tackle long standing barriers to growth such as transport.
