This page summarises the right to take shared parental leave ('SPL') and receive shared parental pay (ShPP). The right applies both in relation to the birth of a child and in relation to adoption. Although the adoption provisions are similar to those that apply in birth cases, there are some differences in the eligibility requirements and timings of required notifications.
