A new statutory right to take shared parental leave (SPL) will be available to eligible parents of babies whose expected week of childbirth (EWC) begins on or after 5 April 2015 or who have a child placed with them for adoption on or after this date.

This page summarises the new rights to SPL and shared parental pay (ShPP) in relation to the birth of a child. Although the provisions are very similar in relation to adoption, there are some differences in eligibility requirements & timings of required notifications. Contact us for specific guidance in these circumstances.

See our Policy - shared parental leave.
