A good CSR policy is the life blood of any business. It can define how you operate and the values you hold. At EEF Venues it touches every aspect of the business, from clients and people to the environment and the communities in which the group operates. David Vaughton looks at some of the CSR initiatives undertaken this year across the group.

“Our perception of CSR is that it is more than simply brand reputation. Yes, CSR adds to our identity as an ethically motivated organisation but more importantly, it reflects our genuine interest in supporting communities and the environment”, said David Vaughton, director of venues for EEF Venues.

Throughout 2015 EEF Venues has continued its role as charity partner for the event industry’s recognized charity, Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN). Each venue also has an adopted charity, with all teams working hard to support it. For example, in early September, John Turpin, business support and development manager, competed in the 10K Wolf Run, raising over £1000 for Myton Hospices.

Environmental initiatives are on-going, with the retention of ISO14001 providing a framework for environmental management best practice right across the three venues.  Gaining ISO18001 demonstrated EEF Venues’ culture of health & safety responsibility.

“2015 has been a momentous year for EEF Venues and we continue to be mindful of ethical, economic, social, environmental and people needs to maximise the venue experience for our teams and delegates and to enhance and support our local communities,” said David Vaughton
