EEF Venues’ Woodland Grange conference venue in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, became the base for one of Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance’s regional air ambulances over the weekend of 14th and 15th October.
The ambulance, which was on call and available for emergencies, was stationed at the AIM gold accredited
venue as it hosted the British Association for Immediate Care
(BASICS) and Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care (FPhC) Conference.
BASICS is a registered UK charity; educating, supporting and providing pre-hospital emergency medical care.
The packed programme over the two-day event included presentations, speeches and workshops, with speakers including leading specialists in pre-hospital care such as Dr James Hickman MBE, Chairman of BASICS.
Dr Kevin Fong, Consultant Anaesthetist at UCL Hospitals, and Anaesthetic Lead for the Patient Emergency Response Team and Major Incident Planning, delivered the annual Myles Gibson Lecture.
The Air Ambulance and several other ambulances were available for demonstration purposes to give delegates an insight into the equipment, processes and challenges involved in vital pre-hospital emergency care.
Ian Chaplin, general manager of Woodland Grange, said: ”Few UK venues have helicopter landing facilities so to have landed such an important conference is testament to our facilities and to our reputation for facilitating clients. It was an absolute honour to have one of the region’s two air ambulances operating from our venue.”
